Perth Resumes R Us is where my passion meets purpose. Our team of Professional Resume Writers and Selection Criteria Writers are highly experienced and rated HR professionals.
Long before it became a business, I was the person everyone turned to, whether it was family, friends, or colleagues, whenever they needed, help creating the perfect resume or nailing a job application. What began as an instinct to support those around me organically evolved over years in my HR career, where I created resumes for tenders, business proposals, and internal recruitment processes. After spending four years working for other resume writing businesses, this natural evolution eventually led me to Perth Resumes R Us, a place where my love for helping others achieve their career goals has become my true calling.
My career journey has been anything but ordinary. I spent more than two decades mastering the art of HR across industries like Digital Services and IT, Media, Construction, Hospitality, Community Services, Early Education, and Health. This path has taken me through the private and public sectors, from nimble start-ups to multinational corporations operating across Australia, New Zealand, and Asia. By the age of 28, I had stepped into my first executive leadership role as Executive Director, Human Resources for a publicly listed digital services organisation. In this position, I established the HR function, led a diverse team, built a high-volume recruitment function from the ground up, and managed significant budgets.
My HR career has touched every aspect and function of the field, with industrial and employee relations being my key area of specialisation. However, the work I’ve done in recruitment and selection is relevant to what I do at Perth Resumes R Us. I’ve led job analysis processes, developed position descriptions and selection criteria, assessed and classified roles, shortlisted candidates, participated in and led recruitment panels, conducted referee checks, made hiring decisions, and managed onboarding processes. This extensive experience has provided me with the expertise of what employers’ value. It’s this insight that enables me to uncover and transform my clients’ career stories into impactful resumes, cover letters, and selection criteria responses that help them achieve their career aspirations.
I’ve always enjoyed staying engaged with various sectors. In 2023, I was involved in an ACT government recruitment panel, where I had the chance to connect with a referee who was a member of an Alliance in the Early Education and Care sector. This person later reached out to me about a Policy and Advocacy Coordinator role which I accepted for a two-year period. I have worked closely with representatives from each member organisation to understand their key priorities and combined their perspectives into a 14-page Election Statement, that advocates for better early childhood education and care. It presented a unified message and aims to influence the government to take meaningful action. I continue to work with this Alliance.
Another project I recently completed pushed me to the limits of my expertise and creativity. I was engaged by one of Australia’s top-ranked universities to tackle the enormous challenge of creating standard job profiles across the entire institution. This wasn’t just about tweaking a few documents; it involved taking more than 3,000 individual position profiles and distilling them into approximately 800 streamlined, standardised job profiles, covering 86 diverse job families. The roles were as varied as they come. Everything from administrators and HR professionals to tech experts, academics, and communications specialists. There were leadership roles and even some positions I’d never heard of before, like those responsible for handling cadavers. It was a wild, fascinating ride that tested my skills in ways I hadn’t anticipated.
Each day brought a new challenge, whether it was deciphering the unique responsibilities of a particular role, figuring out how to standardise operational and functional areas across such a vast and complex organisation, or ensuring that each profile aligned with the University’s Enterprise Agreement and Industry Benchmarking standards. This project wasn’t just a job; it was a year-long immersion into the inner workings of an entire university.
I developed an innovative job profile matrix that transformed a painstakingly manual process into something far more efficient. By the end of it, I had created a tool that not only met the university’s needs but also empowered their team to handle new job profiles with confidence going forward. It has also positioned them as a leader in the industry. The university has since sought my expertise for additional work, a sign of the trust and confidence they placed in my work.
Every step of my career journey has stretched me, sharpening my skills and expanding my expertise across a wide range of challenges. These experiences have not only shaped who I am professionally but have fuelled my passion for turning complexity into clear, impactful solutions. I thrive on taking on the tough, multifaceted challenges and transforming them into something streamlined and powerful, whether it’s crafting a compelling resume or standardising job profiles for a major institution.
